Guard For Grinding Teeth
Teeth grinding along with scratching the blackboard are irritating sounds to hear especially if you are really near the ones doing it. Although many people just do these things as pranks or habits, teeth grinding can cause tooth problems in the later time. Some people who teeth grind do not know that they are actually doing it unconsciously at night. Teeth grinding involves friction and when there is constant friction there is eventual tearing of the tooth which would lead to jaw disorders, tooth aches and even teeth damages. Therefore it really needs proper attention and also consultation to proper professionals.
Anyone can be a teeth grinder since this happens mostly at night when he or she is asleep. They might not realize it for many years just until the outcome is evident. Although at first, it may sound like a minimal habit of yours when asleep but when not paid attention can lead to serious problems. Some of those that grind their teeth already have jaw aches and toothaches while others have broken or damaged teeth. Teeth gritting at night is known as Bruxism which is not a major health issue. But when you look at the future effects, this can lead to many dental problems that are why it should be treated as early as possible. Misalignment of teeth is also an after effect of teeth grinding that is why one way to prevent this is to get the right professionals which are the dentist.
The easiest way to prevent teeth grinding from happening every night is to find a guard for grinding teeth and this is in the form of teeth guards, dental guards or night guards. These devices are made as a guard for grinding teeth in order not to have teeth gritting every night. This simple solution has been effective in that not only will you stop grinding at night but also will help in not disturbing the people around you during the night. There are two different kinds of guards for grinding teeth. The first kind is the over-the-counter mouth guards made easily available in stores. These devices are made of plastic and made to hold teeth from touching one another thus preventing teeth grinding. These are readily available that is why they are not expensive. The only disadvantage it has is that it is not custom fitted that is why there is a possibility that some may not fit. Another kind of guard for grinding teeth is mouth guard custom fitted by dentist. These kinds are made of plaster cast fitted in the different shape and size of one’s mouth and are the best option for those who have braces and those who have hard to fit mouths.
Whichever type of guard for teeth grinding you will choose, you should always remember to find one that will definitely fit to you mouth. It is possible that if the mouth guard is not fit, it will slip out of place from your mouth while you are sleeping. Since teeth guards are only worn at night it is also best to exercise your mouth muscles by clenching teeth and hold for several seconds. You can do this exercise several times a day in order to make your mouth get used to it.
